Aryan Khan has “promised to be a good citizen and serve the country” while being counselled by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), according to NDTV sources.

Shah Rukh Khan’s son has been in jail since October 8 due to his connection to the drugs-on-cruise case after being in the custody of the NCB. This comes after the federal investigative agency raided a rave party of a cruise off the coast of Mumbai and arrested Aryan Khan and seven others on October 2. Aryan Khan was reportedly counselled by the anti-drug agency’s high-profile Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede. Wankhede has also been leading the investigation.

He reportedly said he would “make everyone proud of him”, and would put in efforts to help the poor and needy.

“We counsel every arrested accused and it is done for two to three hour daily during custody,” Wankhede told reporters. He further revealed that the process involves priests from different religions and social workers who work to fight drugs and their usage. “The accused are given the Gita, Quran or Bible based on their faith,” said the officer.

“On Friday, after his bail hearing was put off to this week, Aryan Khan spoke to parents SRK and Gauri Khan via video call,” according to jail officials,

“Aryan was on the call for 10 minutes with his parents, and a jail official was present with him during the call,” said a jail official.

20 people, including two Nigerian nationals have been taken in so far in the case.

Aryan Khan’s lawyers have been asserting that no drugs were found on him and that he was absent from the scene when drugs were seized during the raid. The NCB, however, says that Aryan Khan’s WhatsApp chats reveal his connection to an international drug racket and that he regularly sourced drugs.
