The All India Majils-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) party’s official Twitter account was hacked on Sunday. The hacker renamed the profile as ‘Elon Musk‘, news agency PTI reported citing party sources.

Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM interacted as entrepreneur and business magnate Elon Musk when its Twitter account was hacked around 1 PM on Sunday. Not only the profile name was changed but the picture of the handle was replaced with that of the Tesla CEO. The same account was hacked nine days ago but was restored, PTI said.

“Nine days ago also the Twitter account of AIMIM was hacked but we communicated to Twitter and the account was restored. Now again the account has been hacked,” An AIMIM spokesperson told PTI. The handle has about 6.78 lakh followers.

The spokesperson said that a complaint to Hyderabad police will be lodged on Monday. No new tweets were posted on the account. The last tweet by the party was posted at 1:28 PM.

The account, under Elon Musk’s name, tweeted about cryptocurrency

The account tweeted, “I am very excited about the prospect of using cryptocurrency, not just as a money equivalent, but using it as a way to earn something as a result of doing some type of work. Love Crypto.”

A chain of three tweets was posted with the same text. However, the tweets have been deleted.
