The Sonai constituency is currently being held by BJP MLA Aminul
Haque Laskar who defeated Monika Bora of the Congress in 2016. The seat, one of
Assam’s 126 assembly constituencies, falls under the Silchar Lok Sabha
constituency.
BJP MP Dr Rajdeep Roy currently holds the Silchar Lok Sabha
seat, defeating Sushmita Dev of the Congress in the 2019 General Elections.
