After the first round of raids against the Popular Front of India (PFI), which spanned 15 states and as many as 93 locations, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), along with several other central agencies are conducting a second round of crackdowns against the radical outfit on Tuesday, September 22.

While the first round of raids, which were conducted on September 22, focused on 15 states, the investigating agencies are focusing on eight other states in the latest round. The NIA and other central probing agencies have already detained several members of the PFI since this morning.

Where did the first round of raids take place?

The first round of the raids against the PFI was conducted in 93 locations across 15 states on Tuesday, September 22. These states were Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, West Bengal, Bihar and Manipur.

Where is the second round of raids being conducted?

As per the latest reports, the NIA and other central agencies are conducting a second round of raids in several locations across eight states of India. These states are Assam, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Gujarat.

How many people have been taken in custody in the second round of raids?

As per reports, the NIA has taken custody of 60 people in Karnataka under preventive custody. These people were detained from Kolar, Vijaypura, Chitradurga, Bellary and Chamrajnagara.

The investigating agencies detained six people from Pune, Maharashtra. Delhi witnessed the detention of 12 people from Shaheen Bagh, Jamia and northeast Delhi.

21 people were detained in Assam from eight districts. The eight districts of Assam where those 21 people were detained are Goalpara, Kamrup, Barpeta, Dhubri, Bagsa , Darrang, Udalguri and Karimganj.

The raids in Uttar Pradesh were focused on Siana, Sarurpur, Meerut, Bulandshahr and Sitapur which have seen the detention of several people.

More people could be detained by the NIA and state police later in the day.
