South African bowling all-rounder Chris Morris became the most expensive overseas player of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was snapped by Rajasthan Royals for a gargantuan Rs. 16.25 crore at the IPL 2021 player auction. Having entered the base price of Rs 75 lakhs, Morris’ additions in the mix, quickly skyrocketed the bidding war as franchises battled it out for the services of Morris.

It was an interesting buy, keeping in mind that Morris didn’t play much in the last season and did not even start in a single match.

Last season, Morris played nine matches and took 11 wickets, with the best being 4/26.

In his IPL career, he has played 70 matches and scored 551 runs with a strike rate of 157.87. He also has two half-centuries under his belt.

Apart from the runs, he has taken 80 wickets, with the best being 4/23. With a decent economy of 7.81, he has three four-wicket hauls in the cash-rich tournament.
