Dinanath Bhaskar of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won the Aurai assembly constituency beating Ms Anjani of the Samajwadi Party (SP) by a margin of 1,647 votes.

Aurai assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh was won by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2017 assembly elections. In this constituency, the BJP’s Dinanath Bhaskar defeated his close rival, Madhubala Pasi of Samajwadi Party (SP), by a margin of 19,779 votes.

The BJP won 312 of the 403 assembly seats in 2017, forming an absolute majority in the state assembly and out-powering the Samajwadi Party. The BJP chose Yogi Adityanath to be the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.

The Samajwadi Party (SP) came second behind the BJP, winning just 47 assembly seats, Mayawati-led BSP was third with 19 seats and the Congress (INC) won mere seven seats.

As per the Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies Order, 2008, Aurai is the constituency number 394 of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, India. It is a reserved constituency for Schedule Caste (SC) category.

It is one of five assembly constituencies in the Bhadohi Lok Sabha constituency. Ramesh Chand Bind from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the current Member of Parliament (MP) from the Bhadohi Lok Sabha constituency.

In the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party had formed the government with 224 seats, the BSP was second, winning 80 seats, the BJP had won 47, and the INC 28.

In the Assembly elections 2012, the Samajwadi Party won the Aurai assembly constituency by a margin of 21,837 votes. The winning SP candidate Madhubala Pasi got 83,827 votes and the runner-up Bajinath (BSP) got 61,954 votes. The voter turnout was 53.78%.
