Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the proposed Ram temple in Ayodhya. This was PM Modi’s first visit to the UP town in nearly 29 years. Clad in a saffron kurta and yellow dhoti, PM Modi performed the rituals in the presence of a number of seers. The prime minister, who was seen wearing a mask, laid a 40-kg silver brick to mark the start of construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya less than a year after the Supreme Court’s landmark verdict in the decades-old Ram Janmabhoomi dispute. Before reaching the Ram mandir site, PM Modi offered prayers at the Hanumangarhi temple located nearby.
