Zahid Beg of the Samajwadi Party (SP) has won the Bhadohi assembly constituency by defeating his nearest rival Ravindra Nath Tripathi of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 8,080 votes.

In 2017, the Bhadohi constitution assembly in Uttar Pradesh was won by BJP’s Ravindra Nath Tripathi. He won by a margin of 1105 votes against Zahid Beg of the SP.

BJP had a pleasant ride in UP in 2017, winning 312 out of the the 403 assembly seats. With BJP enjoying an absolute majority in the Vidhan Sabha, they unseated Samajwadi Party and appointed Yogi Adityanath as UP’s CM.

Bhadohi Lok Sabha constituency consists of five assembly constituencies, Bhadohi being one of them. Since 2008, Bhadohi has totalled of 392 amongst 403 constituencies.

While in 2012, SP’s Jahid Beg did manage to beat Ravindranath Tripathi by 16241 votes, winning the elections by a landslide with 224 seats, with BJP and Congress securing 47 and 28 seats respectively.

Currently the Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav has not been able to recreate its 2012 success, by coming second with a measly 46 seats. With BJP in the lead, and Mayawati’s BSP securing 19 and Congress with 7 seats.
