Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that he will be looking into allegations that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was deplaned from  his flight from the Frankfurt airport to Delhi for being “drunk”, according to a report from NDTV. He has said that a probe is required to ascertain all the facts regarding the incident.

Earlier this week, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal alleged that Mann had been asked to get off a Lufthansa Delhi-bound flight from Frankfurt because the Aam Aadmi Party Chief Minister was intoxicated. Following the allegations, the Congress joined in with Partap Singh Bajwa sending a letter to Scindia to investigate the matter.

Amid all the allegations being thrown around, AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal said at a public gathering that Mann was “the most honest Chief Minister Punjab has got in 75 years.”

Speaking at the event, Kejriwal called Mann a “hardcore honest, hardworking man” and listed off the Chief Minister’s achievements saying that he had set up 100 Mohalla clinics, made electricity free, created 75,000 job opportunities and made sure 8,000 teachers received employment. The Delhi CM went on to say that Mann had done “so much” and that his opponents are unable to find “flaws with his work” which had resulted in “mud-slinging.”

The Aviation Minister’s comments come after he was approached at an event by reporters. ” This was an incident on international soil. We will have to make sure that we verify the facts. It is up to Lufthansa airline to provide the data. Based on the request that has been sent to me, I will certainly look into it,” he said.

However, what truly happened remains unclear. Lufthansa airline released a statement on Twitter saying that its flight had departed “later than originally planned” and said that reason behind it was because of a delayed inbound flight and an aircraft change.
