Legendary singer Bhupinder Singh died in a Mumbai hospital on Monday evening at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife Mitalee Singh and 23-year-old son Anandeep Singh, whose pet name in Nihal.
“He passed away on Monday and the funeral will be held mostly on Tuesday. He had a colon ailment,” his wife told The Indian Express on Monday night.

Who is Mitalee Singh?
Mitalee Singh was born as Mitali Mukherjee in Mymensingh, a city in Bangladesh, to Amulya Kumar Mukherjee and Kalyani Mukherjee. She began learning classical music under Pt. Mithun Dey and went on to study music at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. Her first album was ‘Saahil’, which was eleased by HMV. She has sung in several Indian languages, including Tamil and Gujarati. She also served as the judge on popular television shows such as Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Shera Kontho. She married Bhupinder Singh in 1993.
“Singing brought us together. I heard her sing on TV in the 80s. Her voice had deep feeling. That quality still remains!” Bhupinder Singh had told in an interview with DNA in 2013.

Who is Anandeep Singh?
Anandeep Singh, whose pet name is Nihal, has inherited music from his parents, Mitalee told DNA in 2013.
“Nihal (pet name) is 14. He has inherited music from us. If he has my sharp instincts, he’s got his father’s modesty. He never ever let anyone in school know that he could play the guitar so well,” she told the outlet in 2013.
Bhupinder said at the time time Nihal was into rock music.
Not much is known about what he is currently doing.
