Results for the Bihar Assembly election were declared after more than 16 hours since the counting of votes began at 8 am on Tuesday. In the cliffhanger that lasted till early Wednesday, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) crossed the 122-seat majority mark.
It has secured 125 seats in the 243-member house. BJP has won 74 and the Janata Dal (United) has won 43 seats.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-led Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) has secured 110 seats. The RJD has won the highest number of 75 seats. The Congress has won 19 of the 70 seats it contested. Left parties won 11 seats of 29 it fought and MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM bagged five seats.
