Bihar’s Garkha Assembly constituency has elected Surendra Ram of Rashtriya Janata Dal in the 2020 Assembly election. He secured 47.21% of votes and defeated his nearest rival Gyanchand Manjhi of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). 

The seat, one
of Bihar’s 243 assembly constituencies, falls under
the Saran Lok Sabha constituency.

The Saran Lok Sabha
constituency is currently held by Rajiv
Prasad Rudy of BJP, who defeated Chandrika Rai of RJD.

The Garkha Assembly
constituency is reserved for the Scheduled Caste (SC). From 2005 to 2015, the
seat was held by BJP’s Gyanchand Manjhi, who was defeated by RJD’s Muneshwar
Chaudhary in 2015 assembly election. From 1990 to 2005, the seat was held by Muneshwar
Chaudhary, who fought as an independent candidate in 1990, on Janata Dal’s
ticket in 1995 and on RJD’s ticket in 2000.
