Birthday greetings have started to pour in for Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar as he turns 49 today (Sunday, April 24). The ‘Master Blaster’, who continues to be worshipped in India as the most prolific cricket legend, has flooded social media with pictures and videos created by his fans. 

Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir shared an image with Tendulkar on the occasion. “A true legend & an even better human being. Wish you a very happy birthday @sachin_rt. God bless!” he wrote on Twitter. 

Indian cricketer Ishant Sharma uploaded a picture with the icon and wrote, “Happy birthday paaji!! Wishing you lots of happiness and good health. May you have the best day!!”

Former cricketer and coach Venkatesh Prasad shared a series of old pictures with Tendulkar and wrote, “24 years since the unbelievable innings in the finals at Sharjah , he turned 25 that day , 24 years later, @sachin_rt remains an inspiration and a hero to so many. Heartiest birthday wishes to a wonderful man.”

ICC’s official handle also wished Tendulkar. “One of the greatest batters that India ever produced…but also an entertaining occasional bowler. Happy birthday, @sachin_rt,” the international council said. 

India’s cricket administrative body BCCI recalled the Master Blaster’s track record. “664 international matches, 34,357 international runs, 100 international tons, 201 international wickets. Here’s wishing the ever-so-inspirational & legendary @sachin_rt a very happy birthday,” BCCI wrote on its official Twitter handle.

Mumbai Indians, the IPL team that Tendulkar led from 2008 to 2011, also wished him on the platform. 

“The pride of a nation & an emotion to billions. Paltan, replies मध्ये Sachiiiin Sachiiiin होऊ द्या! Happy birthday, @sachin_rt #OneFamily,” the team wrote.

“100 Centuries. Millions of Fans. Billions of memorable moments. Wishing Master Blaster a very Happy Birthday @sachin_rt Thank you for the unforgettable innings and inspiration,” Indian hockey player Tushar Khandker wrote on Twitter. 

Nepalese cricketer and IPL 2018 Delhi Capitals player Sandeep Lamichhane wrote: “Reason for Watching Cricket, Playing Cricket and still supporting. Happy birthday to the man whose passion for Cricket has inspired many.”
