Bhartiya Janata Party
(BJP) MP Sunny Deol on Tuesday clarified in a Twitter post that neither he nor his
family members have any links with actor Deep Sidhu, who was a part of protesters’
group that stormed Delhi’s Red Fort during farmers’ Republic Day tractor rally.

“Today, I am very sad to see what happened on the Red Fort, I have already made it clear on Twitter, on 6 December, that me or my family has no connection with Deep Sidhu. Jai Hind.” Deol wrote on Twitter.

Deol’s clarification comes at the backdrop of Tuesday’s violence that broke out during the farmers’ tractor rally after agitating farmers, protesting at several Delhi borders for almost two months for the repealing three farm laws, broke through the barriers, clashed with the police and stormed the Red Fort to hoist religious flag on its ramparts, despite police’s warnings.

Punjabi film actor, Deep Sidhu, who was reportedly an aide of BJP leader Sunny Deol during 2019 Lok
Sabha elections for which the latter contested from Gurdaspur, was allegedly among the violators who created chaos at the Red fort.

However, Sunny distanced himself from Sidhu in December last year due to latter’s involvement in the agitation against the central farm laws.
