BJP’s Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday accused jailed-RJD leader Lalu Prasad
Yadav of poaching NDA lawmakers in a bid to fell the newly formed government.

The former deputy chief minister of Bihar said this via a tweet in which he uploaded an audio clip, in which one of the parties’s voice was alleged by him to be of Yadav.

“Lalu Yadav making telephone call (8051216302) from Ranchi to NDA MLAs & promising ministerial berths. When I telephoned, Lalu directly picked up. I said don’t do these dirty tricks from jail, you will not succeed,” Modi tweeted.

According to the recorded audio,  the conversation apparently was held between Pirpainti MLA Lallan Yadav and Lalu, during which the latter was
heard saying to him, “We will take good care of you. Just help us tomorrow in
defeating the NDAs candidate for the Speakers post”.

The voice, claimed by Modi to be of RJD leader, also suggested Lallan Yadav to be absent from the speaker’s election next day in the assembly feigning coronavirus infection. It said he will make him a minister.

On Wednesday when NDA’s Vijay Kumar Sinha was elected speaker, Modi sent another tweet saying “Lalu Prasad’s
conspiracy has been foiled”.

He said he called Lalu on the same number he mentioned in his tweet and warned him against playing “dirty politics”.

Tar Kishore Prasad, deputy chief minister also condemned lalu for his alleged poaching act.

Mukesh Sahni, founder of Vikassheel Insaan Party, who was earlier a part of
RJD and later joined NDA said, “Those who make calls to MLAs with the intent to
topple a government have no right to speak of democratic norms”.

RJD has not made any comment on the controversy so far.

However, MLA
Mukesh Raushan who recently joined RJD gave a statement and said, “You
will see a big shake up in March. This government will fall and Tejashwi Yadav
will become the Chief Minister”.

Lalu was jailed for four year under charges of corruption.
