Brahmastra:
Part One Shiva starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt had a bumper opening
Friday collecting Rs 36.5-38 crore in the domestic market, according to
Bollywood Hungama, becoming India’s biggest non-holiday release. Film producer
Karan Johar announced Brahmastra minted Rs 75 crore worldwide on the opening
day. “Humbled…Grateful…but yet can’t control my excitement,” Johar captioned
his Instagram post.

Brahmastra’s
collection has come as a great relief to the entire Hindi film industry.
Several Bollywood films in the recent past have bombed at the box office. While
some films like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, The Kashmir Files, have
worked, a large number of films have done poorly, until they ended up on Over-The-Top
(OTT) platforms.

How much
did it cost to make Brahmastra?

Made at a
cost of Rs 450 crore, Brahmastra is the most expensive Hindi film ever made. It
broke the record for the YRF’s Thugs of Hindostan which was made at Rs 310
crore. The film casts some of the biggest names in the industry, including
Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and even has Shah Rukh Khan in a smaller
role.

What did
Brahmastra stakeholders say?

Brahmastra
director Ayan Mukherji wrote on Instagram: “Brahmastra Day 1. Gratitude.
Excitement. Hope. A Big Thank You to Everyone Everywhere who has gone to the
Cinemas to experience Brahmastra, keeping our movie-going culture, vibrant and
dynamic. Looking forward to the next few days.”
