Knight Riders’ (KKR) mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy represents Tamil Nadu in
domestic cricket. He made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2021 against
Sri Lanka after having a successful IPL season and impressing the selectors. He
had been under BCCI’s radar earlier as well but could not make it to the final
squad because of failing the fitness test.

He
surprised cricket watchers throughout the country when he took MS Dhoni’s
wicket twice among others. His first dismissal of the former Indian captain was
a display of his character. All Dhoni could do is give a surprised look. The
two had a chat after the game.

It has been
observed that Chakravarthy does not celebrate the wickets he takes and simply
gives a shrug to his teammates unlike other bowlers. In conversation with Andre
Russel in a televised chat he revealed the reason behind doing so. Varun
believes a big celebration would put him off his game as it would result in a
loss of concentration.
