Scarlett Johansson returned as the titular hero of %u2018Black Widow%u2019. The movie was finally released in theatres on July 9 but is yet to release on Dinsey plus for the Indian audience. The movie takes place between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.

Last time Marvel fans saw Natasha was after her dramatic death in Avengers: Endgame. Since Black Widow is a prequel story for the character, its place in the MCU timeline was one of the film’s biggest mysteries. Natasha’s parent’s who were undercover Russian agents were tasked with stealing S.H.I.E.L.D intel. 

After pretending to be a normal family in Ohio for several years Natasha and her sister Yelena, are sent to the Red Room to train as Black Widows under the villainous Dreykov. After the film was announced in 2019, many fans wondered if they would see a return of certain fan-favorite MCU heroes to fill any plot holes left by the previous Avengers movies.

In a report from GamesRadar+, Director Cate also revealed that she and Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President decided not to add cameos of other MCU heroes to fully focus on the movie plot. However, her statements followed many rumors that Iron Man/Tony Stark would make an appearance in the film, which started from some reports which were published back in 2019.

Cate said, “Initially, there were discussions about everything, about all of the different characters. What we decided was, and I think Kevin was really great, he said, ‘She doesn’t need the boys.’ We didn’t want it to feel like she needs the support. We want her to stand alone. And she does.”

The decision to focus on the story of Natasha Romanoff, her adoptive family, and the destruction of Dreykov’s Black Widow operation was quite successful and proved to be a good move. With the release of Black Widow, Phase 4 of MCU is off to an exciting start.
