The Central Board of Secondary Education announced on Thursday that it is likely to conduct the optional as well as the compartmental examinations for class 10 and 12 in September. The board is yet to announce the dates, reported news agency PTI.

After declaring its class 10 and 12 board results in July, the CBSE said that it will conduct an optional examination for subjects which stood cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as soon as the situation improves.

It was left for the students to decide, if they want to appear for the exams in order to improve their marks.

“Marks obtained by a candidate in these optional examinations will be treated as final for those who had opted to take these examinations,” the CBSE said in a statement on July 13.

The compartment exams, which are conducted for students who do not pass in one of the five subjects, are also being planned in September. Some students, however, have moved the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the examination during the COVID-19 outbreak.
