Bollywood singer KK’s sudden death has brought sadness to many hearts, not least the millions who have grown up on his music. From nursing heart-breaks to reminiscing about days past, the prolific singer had the song for many a mood. Performing at Kolkata’s Nazrul Mancha, the 53-year-old regaled packed audiences, running through his vast array of hits. However, as per eye-witness accounts, the arrangements inside the auditorium were inadequate. With social media handles citing mismanagement, the singer was reportedly uneasy at the lack of ventilation and unbearable heat inside the auditorium. As per initial post-mortem reports, the singer died of a cardiac arrest.

CCTV footage of the hotel lobby has emerged in which the singer pacing about the corridor moments before collapsing in his room. As per reports from ABP Ananda, a Bengali news channel, the crooner had raised an issue with the lighting in place. Speaking to Telegraph, show organizer Tochan Ghosh recollects events from after last night’s show:
“He told his secretary Hitesh Bhatt that he was feeling cold when the car’s air conditioner was switched on while returning to the hotel this evening. In the hotel, a few fans were waiting for him to take selfies. He politely refused and said he was not feeling well today.”

He would add that the singer collapsed on his sofa after retiring to his room at the Oberoi Grand. His secretary, who was in the room with him, would rush him to CMRI, in the southern neighbourhood of Alipore. To the heartbreak of all concerned, he was declared ‘brought dead’ to the hospital:
“He was brought dead here. We have handed over the body to police. For tonight, the body will be kept at the hospital’s mortuary,” revealed a CMRI official to The Telegraph.
KK is survived by his wife and two children.
