Brijbhushan Rajput of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won the Charkhari assembly constituency defeating Ram Jeevan of the Samajwadi Party (SP) by a margin of 41,881 votes.
Charkhari assembly constituency has Brijbhushan Rajput of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on Ajendra Singh Rajpur of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Vinod Kumar of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Nirdosh Kumar Dixit of the Congress, and Prem Narayan of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Brijbhushan Rajpoot Alias Guddu Bhaiya had won the Charkhari seat in 2017, when the BJP swept Uttar Pradesh winning 312 of UP’s 403 assembly seats. Rajpoot had beaten his closest rival Urmila Devi by a margin of 44,014 votes. Urmila Devi had contested that election on an SP ticket.

In 2012, the seat was won by Uma Bharti of the BJP.
Charkhari falls under Mahoba district and the Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of five assembly seats – two of these are in Mahoba district, two in Hamirpur district, and one in Banda district.

Charkhari witnessed a by-election in 2019, where Yuwraj Singh of the BJP defeated Dr Manoj Kumar Prajapati of the SP by 17,867 votes.

The Charkhari assembly constituency will vote in the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections on February 10, 2022, along with 59 other constituencies in 16 districts. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven rounds, with the last round on March 3.
