Congress MP from Kanyakumari, H Vasanthakumar, died on Friday, in Chennai, reported ANI.
The 70-year-old Congress leader had been admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Chennai since August 10.
The Congress MP died of COVID-19 in a Chennai hospital reported PTI quoting the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee.
Congress issued a statement on the demise of the leader saying they were deeply saddened by his untimely death.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted about the demise of the Lok Sabha MP saying “Condolences to his family and supporters. Om Shanti.”
The PM also said that he admired the late MP’s “strides in business and social service efforts” and called them “noteworthy.”
PM Modi said that he always “saw his(H Vasanthakumar’s) passion towards Tamil Nadu’s progress.”
H Vasanthakumar, is the current elected Member of Parliament, to the 17th Lok Sabha from the Kanyakumari constituency.
