The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday made COVID-19 tests mandatory for everyone entering its premises with symptoms of the virus. This comes after 44 of 90 court employees tested positive for coronavirus, according to NDTV.

In a circular issued, the court said that people with fever, body ache or loss of smell should not come to the court and quarantine themselves. The apex court added that advocates and court staff must undergo RT-PCR or a Rapid Antigen Test.

According to the circular, only three people are allowed in an elevator at a time and elevators are only to be used for going up.

On Monday, the entire court premises, including courtrooms, were sanitised. Judges are now holding court proceedings through video conferencing.

India on Tuesday recorded its highest daily count of 184,372 new cases of COVID-19, the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday showed. 1,027 people died of the disease in the past 24 hours. With this, India’s caseload stands at 13,873,825, including 172,085 deaths.
