India has currently racked up a total number of 14.5 million COVID-19 cases, of which 12.7 million have been recovered, and around 176,000 have died. Here are a few updates about the pandemic situation in the country.

  1. Mumbai Police impose sticker codes for vehicles in the city. Red stickers can be used only for vehicles belonging to doctors, medical staff and ambulances, green stickers for vehicles carrying consumer goods, and yellow stickers for BMC, telephone department and media.

  7. Night curfew has been imposed in all districts of Dehradun between 9 pm to 5 am. Weekend curfew to be imposed in Dehradun Municipal Corporation areas from April 18, said Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Om Prakash.
  8. Delhi Chief Minister requests Union Health Minister for the reservation of 50% beds for COVID-19 patients in centre-run hospitals in Delhi.
  9. Raipur has been declared as containment zone till 6 am of April 26, says the District Administration.
  10. Tamil Nadu reports 9,344 people tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday, with over 99,000 tests being done.
  11. “Today, 175 ‘sadhus’ who attended Kumbh Mela have tested positive for COVID-19; so far”, said Chief Medical Officer from Haridwar, Dr SK Jha.
