As the day nears when India opens up the COVID-19 vaccine for all adults, the tools required to register an individual have failed to function properly, thus marking the first hurdle in India’s newly pivoted inoculation drive. On April 28, two days before the mass vaccination drive takes a new turn in India, the registrations for all eligible adults were scheduled to open.
The Cowin portal, which can also be accessed through the Aarogya Setu app, has crippled those wishing to register for the vaccine. Most people on Twitter report technical issues related to the portal not accepting their date of birth.

An error saying “Registration is open only for individuals with age 45 years or older (birth year 1976 or earlier)” pops up on the Cowin registration portal as the user puts in their date of birth.
A tweet from the Mygov Twitter handle said that the registrations will begin at midnight on April 28. Meanwhile, some users have claimed that the registrations on the Cowin portal and the Aarogya Setu app will begin at 4 pm on April 28.

People who have tried to register themselves on the portal have shared their reactions in their own language, memes.
On the other hand, some have taken the help of pop culture and Bollywood references to explain their struggles with registering through the portal.
