India’s Harnaaz Sandhu caused a global storm after bagging the glamourous Miss Universe title. After India’s much anticipated wait of more than two decades, Sandhu finally brought the crown back to the country, succeeding Lara Dutta Bhupathi, who was crowned in the year 2000. Only three Indian women have bagged the crown in the 70 years of the pageant. India’s first Miss Universe winner was Sushmita Sen, crowned in 1994.

Actress and former Miss Universe Lara Dutta Bhupathi extended her congratulatory wishes to Sandhu on Twitter. She joyfully wrote “Congratulations @HarnaazSandhu03 !!! welcome to the club!!! We’ve waited 21 long years for this!!! You make us SO SO proud!!! A billion dreams come true!!!”

Actress and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra also tweeted “And the new Miss Universe is… Miss India! Congratulations @HarnaazSandhu03… bringing the crown home after 21 years!”

Producers of the Miss Universe pageant also posted the crowning moment and snippets of Sandhu on their official Twitter handle.

Sandhu was crowned by Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza from Mexico.

Urvashi Rautela, Miss Universe India 2015 and this year’s panel judge, took to Instagram to share a video of her and Sandhu happily waving the Indian flag to celebrate Sandhu’s global success.

The Miss Universe 2021 panel had Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima, Puerto Rican actress Adamari López, anchor Steve Harvey’s daughter Lori Harvey, American actor Rena Sofer, and Marian Rivera, a Filipina actor and model.

Victoria’s Secret supermodel Adriana Lima shared on  Instagram a picture of Sandhu and two other contestants.

Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu already has thousands of fans sending their congratulatory wishes. The Punjabi model and actress turned global icon already has multiple fan pages that are being run by her fans. Many have shared the crowning moment on social media.
