The Indian women face an uphill task as they face the World No. 1 team and defending T20 champions. The opening game is crucial because it will set the tone for the rest of the team’s campaign. If they lose, Indian women will have to win all other group stage matches, to have any chance of making it into the semi finals. India is included in Group A along with Australia, Barbados, and Pakistan. Group B consists of New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
The top two teams from each group advance to the semifinals, where the group’s top team faces the second-best team from the opposing group. The semifinal losers will go on to compete for the bronze medal.
