Punjabi actor-turned-activist Deep Sidhu, who has been booked in connection with the violence at the historic Red Fort on Tuesday, has now threatened to expose farmer leaders. Sidhu was among the protestors who hoisted a religious flag at the historic monument.

Following this, several farmer unions rebuked him for his actions and also blamed him for inciting the protestors. After coming under fire, Sidhu went live on Facebook and threatened to expose the farmer leaders.

“If I start exposing the farmers’ leaders, they will not be able to escape from Delhi,” he said.

Sidhu was also called a “traitor” by the farmer leaders, who accused him of trying to defame the peaceful agitation by the farmers.

Responding to this, Sidhu said, “I’m not a traitor and didn’t lead people to the Red Fort. This decision was made by the public who had come all the way from Punjab to protest. Nobody was leading them.”

He added that the union leaders should have supported the hoisting of the flag.

“The farmer union leaders should have supported those unfurling the farmer’s and Khalsa flag at Red Fort as it was done to mark our protest in this fight,” said the Punjabi actor.

“The Tricolour was not disrespected in any way, and there was no violence till I was there. The support of the union leaders for what the public did would have put pressure on the government to repeal the farm laws. The leaders should have conveyed that if the farmers can reach the Red Fort, they can do anything in protest,” he said.

The 36-year-old actor joined the farmers’ agitation against the farm laws last year.
