Amid the farmers’ protest in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about “beneficial provisions” of the newly enacted agriculture laws with farmers of Madhya Pradesh as part of a state-level programme on Friday. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court observed that the Centre’s talks with the protesting farmers ‘have not worked apparently’. The apex court has announced that it would be forming a panel to break the three-week-long deadlock. But the move has been dismissed by farm leaders as no solution. Protesting farmer unions said constituting a new panel to break the stalemate on the three new farm laws is not a solution as they want a complete withdrawal of the legislation. For the last 20 days, farmers have been protesting at the border points of Delhi demanding a repeal of the three new farm laws.
