The Delhi
government has roped in superheroes from DC Comics’s Justice League to send a
message about wearing masks with health minister Satyendar Jain sharing posts
on social media of Batman, Superman and The Flash donning face masks.

Jaion
shared the posts on Facebook, which read “Heroes wear masks. Put on your mask
and save lives. #BeAHero.”

“Not all heroes wear capes, some wear masks,” another post read.

Jain also shared post which highlighted the various mistakes people make while wearing masks, such as not covering the whole of the face and the mouth, leaving it dangling from one ear, wearing it on their chins, etc.

With the national capital experiencing a third wave of coronavirus cases, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-government in Delhi has imposed a Rs 2,000 fine on non-compliance with mask-wearing in public places.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also said that 80% of all ICU beds in private hospitals will be reserved for COVID-19 patients.

Earlier this week, Jain had confirmed there will be no re-imposition of lockdown in the city, saying that the peak of the third wave had passed.

That decision was made in a meeting on November 15, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, with Kejriwal, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan also present.

Delhi has recorded over one lakh virus infections and over 1,200 deaths since the start of November. The city surpassed the 5,000 daily cases mark on October 28 and recorded over 8,000 new cases for the first time on November 11.
