A complaint with the police has been filed against PDP president Mehbooba Mufti by a Delhi-based lawyer for her statement indicating Aryan Khan is being targeted by the police because of his surname.

“The lawyer in the complaint stated that an FIR should be registered against Mufti for “attempting to create enmity between communities”,” India Today reported. The lawyer said that the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir gave an “inciting statement which intends to create hatred and unrest among communities”.

Mufti took to Twitter on Monday to write, “Instead of making an example out of a Union Minister’s son accused of killing four farmers, central agencies are after a 23-year-old simply because his surname happens to be Khan. Travesty of justice that Muslims are targeted to satiate the sadistic wishes of BJP’s core vote bank.”

Mehbooba Mufti also attacked the BJP-led central government for not taking any action against Union Minister of State Ajay Misra’s son, Ashish, who reportedly murdered farmers by mowing over them with his vehicle and instead focusing on Aryan Khan’s case.

Aryan Khan was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) following a drug bust on board a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai on October 2. Although he did not have any drugs on him, his bail plea is being repeatedly denied in court. Son of Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, he is currently accommodated in Arthur Road prison until his next bail hearing happens on October 13.

On the other hand, a local court in Lakhimpur has sent Union minister Ajay Misra’s son Ashish Misra to a three-day custody in links with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, reported India Today. As per the latest IANS report, “The Lakhimpur Kheri police have arrested Shekhar Bharti, the driver of Ankit Das, whose vehicle was in the convoy that mowed down nine persons, including four farmers on October 3. Police sources said that Shekhar Bharti, who was arrested on Tuesday morning, is presently being interrogated.”
