An earthquake was reported in Delhi NCR. People living in the region took to Twitter to report that tremors have been felt in the region. It was later revealed that what was felt in Delhi were tremors of an earthquake that originated in Nepal.

The magnitude of the earthquake has been reported to be 6.3, according to India’s National Center for Seismology. The affected countries are India, China, and Nepal. The epicentre is in Nepal. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre has reported that the earthquake’s depth was 10 km.

The ESMC has also warned that the aftershocks of the earthquake can again be felt in the next few hours or days, and has thus advised people to “stay away from damaged areas for your own safety”.

The United States’ CDC advises people to practice “Drop. Cover. Hold On” in case one is on the streets in the middle of an earthquake. One should first drop to the ground on their knees, take cover under a table or a solid structure, and hold on to the same.

Those inside should stay inside, but move away from glass or hanging objects that can injure one on falling.

ANI later reported that three people have been dead in the two earthquakes that struck Nepal in the last 24 hours. The deaths have occurred in Far-West Nepal’s Doti district.

Another earthquake was reported in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh at around 6:30 AM. The National Center for Seismology reported that it had originated from 5 km below the earth’s surface.
