Interim England captain Jos Buttler
on Sunday said he saw shades of the ‘great finisher’ MS Dhoni in Sam Curran’s 95-run
unbeaten knock in the ODI series between India and England. Winning the match,
India also won the series by a margin on 2-1 on the same day, PTI reported.

With the England batting order
stripped down bare to 200 runs at the loss of seven wickets, Curran led on the
fight for the visitors, at one point making a chase to the faraway 330-run
target look possible.

Tight death-over bowling, however,
ensured a win for India by a close seven-run margin.

According to Buttler, Curran, who
will be playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021, would have a chance to talk
to MS Dhoni about his innings.

“I’m sure Sam would want to talk
to MS about tonight’s innings. I’m sure there were shades of the way
that he (MS Dhoni) would have liked to take the game down if he was in that
situation. He’s a great person for Sam to have a conversation with when he
meets up MS (in the IPL)”, Buttler was quoted by PTI as saying.

“We know what an amazing cricketer, finisher MS Dhoni is. A brilliant learning curve for all our players to share dressing rooms with guys like MS’ stature in the game. I’m very excited for them.” he reportedly further said.

England spinner Moeen Ali too would
be playing for CSK in the upcoming IPL season.

England had earlier chased down a
337-run target in the second One Day International match, and despite Buttler
saying 330 runs was a manageable chase, the visitors could not generate any
solid partnerships throughout the match.
