Former Real Madrid striker Raul is a leading candidate to take over the first team with manager Zinedine Zidane rumoured to depart at the end of the season. Raul has been linked with clubs in Germany but he has said that he will not be
leaving Madrid yet.

“This
is my home and this is where I want to be. This is not the time to talk about
anyone’s future,” he told Spanish outlet Marca. He said that he will do his coaching at his home and that the
club is his home.

Raul is currently coach of Real Madrid Castilla, the club’s B-team and has impressed with his work since taking over in June, 2019. He previously worked with the Cadete B or the under-15 setup.

Zidane
has said that he will be leaving the club this summer. The former player has
been under a lot of pressure throughout the season, particularly after the
Champions League semi-final defeat to Chelsea.

Zinedine Zidane is unable to offer any guarantees on his future as Real Madrid manager, with the Frenchman admitting that “anything could happen” this summer. The 48-year-old is tied to a contract through to 2022

but has remained coy on his plans when quizzed on the chances of that agreement being honored.
