COVID-19 pandemic is not a thing of the
past in India. The northern part of India is recording a fresh rise in positive cases.
Keeping the danger of the infection in mind, the BCCI had decided to host the IPL
2022 in Maharashtra across four venues in Mumbai and Pune. But even after that
Delhi Capitals squad has to be quarantined after their players contracted the
virus. Two days after DC’s physio Patrick Farhart tested positive for the virus, two more cricketers tested positive for COVID-19. In the wake of the rise in COVID-19 cases, DC cancelled their scheduled travel to Pune on Monday.

Now as the entire team has to be quarantined, it has raised fresh speculation
about the cancellation of the ongoing season. Fans on Twitter raise questions
like – Will the IPL 2022 continue despite the rise in cases in India? Will it
be held behind closed doors or the tournament be shifted to the UAE last the
season?

The number of daily cases in India in
various states has gone up in the week gone by. While the COVID-19 scare looms
over IPL 2022, worried fans have taken to Twitter to express their concern about the safety of players and fans who are taking part in the tournament in the 15th edition of IPL. Due to the rise in cases, ‘Cancel IPL’ started trending on Twitter.
