A farmer, who was
a part of the Republic Day tractor rally to protest against the three Central
farm laws, died at Delhi’s ITO  after his
tractor overturned during the parade, confirmed a police official as per PTI.

Farmers peacefully
protesting against the newly-elected farm laws for more than two months now at
various borders in Delhi, took  out a tractor rally on Tuesday but it soon
plunged into chaos after thousands of protesters entered Delhi on their
tractors, cranes and trucks, breaking barricades and clashing with police at
various places.

Authorities had agreed to let the farmers stage a tractor rally as long as they waited for the official Republic Day parade to finish but farmers started gathering along Delhi’s borders from 8 am and soon hundreds of tractors could be seen rolling into Delhi.

Later, the protesters knocked down barricades at Singhu and Tikri points along Delhi-Haryana border and clashed with police before proceeding towards central Delhi. Another group that reached ITO, attacked the buses that had been used as barricades and clashed with police.

In a video
released by news agency ANI from Tuesday’s clash, a police official can be seen
being taken away to safety by a group of protesters after another group tried
to attack him in Delhi’s ITO area.

Soon after violence broke out on Tuesday, the Delhi police urged the agitating farmers, who conducted tractor parade on the occasion of Republic Day, to maintain peace and not take law in their hands, reported PTI.

The police also asked the protestors to head back to their pre-allotted routes after they reached and installed their flags on the pole at the Red Fort.
