The National Investigation Agency has summoned farmer leader Baldev Singh Sirsa and Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu to appear before it on Sunday, ANI reported. Sidhu on Saturday shared a copy of the letter on his Facebook page.

The central probe agency, which deals with terror-related crimes, has summoned 40 people, including Sirsa and Sidhu, for examination as witnesses in a case related to Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) under Section 160 of Code of Criminal Procedure.

SFJ is a US-based secessionist group that supports the secession of Punjab from India and the creation of Khalistan.

In NIA’s letter addressed to Sidhu, he has been summoned to appear before the agency at its New Delhi office.

“Whereas it appears that you (Deep Sidhu) are acquainted with the facts and circumstances of the case noted below, which I am investigating… you are hereby required to appear before me on January 17 at 10:00 am at National Investigation Agency, Opposite CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi for the purpose of answering certain question relating to the case,” the letter shared by Sidhu read.

Both Sirsa and Sidhu have been active in the ongoing farmers’ protest against the three farm laws, which were enacted in September during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
