Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Governor’s conference on National Educational Policy on Monday. Addressing the governors, the PM said, “In this policy, we have stressed on passion, practicality, and performance.”

He added, “the education policy and education system is an important medium to fulfill the aspirations of the country.”

Modi stated, “Central, state government, local bodies, all are connected with the responsibility of education system. But it is also true that the government, its interference, its influence in education policy, should be minimal.”

The Prime Minister said the policy focused on learning instead of studying and added that the main impetus of the policy was on critical thinking.

Modi stated, “India has been ancient centre of learning” and added, “New education policy paves way for opening campus of best international institutions in India so that youth from common family can also join them.” 

He also added that associating more teachers, parents, and students with the new education policy would make it more relevant and broad-based.
