Forbes India Rich List 2021 has been released. According to an IANS report, the aggregate wealth of the persons on the list has risen to a record USD 775 billion, after adding 257 billion US dollars in the previous year. According to the research, the exponential growth equates to a stunning 50% increase in wealth. 

This year’s list includes six newcomers, with four of them hailing from the thriving chemicals industry: Ashok Boob (No. 93, $2.3 billion), Deepak Mehta (No. 97, $2.05 billion), Yogesh Kothari (No. 100, $1.94 billion), and Arvind Lal (No. 87, $2.55 billion). Prabhat Lodha (No. 42, $4.5 billion) and Prathap Reddy (No. 88, $2.53 billion) are the other two new entrants.

Mukesh Ambani is the richest Indian for the 14th year in a row, having added $4 billion to his personal worth in 2021. Gautam Adani is now a close second with a wealth of $74.8 billion, barely $17.9 billion behind Ambani.

The list was produced using shareholding and financial information gathered from individuals and families, stock exchanges, analysts, and regulatory bodies in India. The ranking includes family riches shared by extended families, such as the Bajaj and Godrej families. The public fortunes were computed using stock prices and exchange rates as of September 17. Private firms were evaluated using comparable publicly listed corporations.

Given the raised cut-off for entry into this year’s list, eleven previous year’s listees fell off. This year’s list needed a minimum of $1.94 billion, up from $1.33 billion last year.
