The Russia, India, China’s (RIC) foreign ministers have booked a rendezvous on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Moscow, confirmed the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.
External affairs minister S Jaishankar is in Moscow on a four-day visit to attend the meeting of foreign ministers of the SCO, of which both India and China are members. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is the host of the meeting of SCO foreign ministers being held in the Russian capital from Wednesday to Thursday.
S Jaishankar along with his Chinese counterpart will attend the foreign ministers’ meeting when Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov hosts the SCO meet in Moscow.
In order to pursue RIC, Wang Yi, the foreign minister of China will hold bilateral meetings and attend a luncheon with relevant nations, their Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
The RIC framework guides the foreign ministers of the three countries to meet periodically for holding bilateral, regional and international issues of interest.
However, the spokesperson said that he was not aware of the timing of the RIC meeting.
The SCO was founded at a summit in Shanghai in 2001 by the Presidents of Russia, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
