Havilah Heger Wiley and Stephen adopted a rescued native Indian dog that travelled across the continent to be re-homed in Alberta, Canada. They’ve given her the name Indy. Havilah shared a touching video of the couple meeting their new four-legged family member on Instagram, which has received over 1.5 million views.
“A little shy at first, but didn’t take long to bond. Welcome home Indy” reads the caption.
Havilah shared a touching video of the couple welcoming their new four-legged family member on Instagram, which has received over 1.5 million views, in addition to heaps of praise for adopting a stray.
In the video, they documented the day the Indian pariah arrived. As they leave for the airport, the pair can be seen impatiently waiting for the dog. Stephen enters the house and opens the carrier. As they give him snacks, the indie seemed to take her sweet time acclimating to its new home.
Havilah stated in a subsequent post that the “gentle, kind,” and “goofy” desi Indian dog travelled for 5 days before landing at her home. She also mentioned that Indy had been in a major car accident when she was younger.
“She was hit by a vehicle when she was a tiny puppy and her leg + tail were injured badly. Her tail never recovered and had to get amputated, so now she has the cutest little stub tail,” Havilah wrote.
“We looooooove her,” she added.
