As we move into the weekend, here is a list of five movies that you can watch on over-the-top (OTT) platforms, as you sit back and relax.

1. The Platform

Directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, the Spanish film from 2019 featuring Alexandra Masangkay, who plays ‘Miharu’ and Ivan Massague, who plays as ‘Goreng’, is a sci-fi thriller, and is the recipient of 2020 European FIlm Award for Best Visual Effects. 

The movie begins with Goreng waking up in part of ‘The Hole’, a place where ‘The Platform’ is where the food is sent down to. But the twist is when he learns that people below fall into madness and turn into cannibals. 

2. Sound of Metal

Directed by Darius Marder, the film is a musical drama from 2019 featuring a star cast of Riz Ahmed and Olivia Cooke, was nominated for 2021 Academy Award for Best Picture, and received Critic’s Choice Award for Best Editing.

The story revolves around the life of a heavy-metal drummer who starts to lose his hearing.

3. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

The film is a teen romantic comedy from 2018 directed by Susan Johnson featuring the lead actor Lana Condor, who plays ‘Lara Jean’, is a part of the film series written by Sofia Alvarez.

Lara Jean, a teenage girl, has her love letters exposed which causes a disorder in her love life, as the letters that were written for her past lovers were meant only for her to keep it. But her life changes when they find out.

4. Vada Chennai

The movie from 2018 is an action-crime film, directed by Vetrimaaran, featuring Dhanush, portrays the life of a carrom player who sets his foot into the realm of crime and gangsters in search of a settlement for the past feuds. Although, he plans to take them down in his stride while they plan of wiping out his locality.

5. One Night in Miami

The movie from 2020 is a drama, directed by Regina King, featuring a star cast of Leslie Odom Jr, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Jim Brown, depicts how on the night of February 25, 1964 in MIami, Jim Brown, played by himself, Sam Cooke, played by Cooke Jr, and Malcom X, played by Ben-Adir, talk about being successful black people, and the influence it holds in the Civil Rights Movement.
