Tamil actor-comedian Vivekh, who had appeared in more than 220 films, died on Saturday following a cardiac arrest. The 59-year-old actor was brought to a Chennai hospital in critical condition on Friday and he died the next day.

Condolences started pouring in with several members of the film fraternity taking to social media to thank him “entertaining and empowering” them. 

“Ahhh.. #vivek …gone too soon dear friend,” tweeted actor Prakash Raj. “Thank you for entertaining and empowering us with your wit and humour..will miss you,” he added.

Actor Harish Kalyan wrote, “Really heartbreaking & not able to accept that our @Actor_Vivek sir is not with us anymore!! You’ve inspired millions with your performance, social work and also by being a wonderful soul!
More than an actor, as a human you’ve always won our hearts. #RIPVivekSir

According to reports, he had a 100% blockage in his LAD (Left Anterior Descending Artery) which led to the cardiac arrest, and was shifted to the SIMS hospital in Chennai’s Vadapalani on Friday morning after collapsing at home.
