The history of Pizza goes back to the southwestern Italian city of Naples, which is widely credited to be the origin of the mouthwatering food item. Since then, the dish, although initially a flatbread, has been consumed by ancient civilization of Egypt and Rome.  The use of tomatoes as a topping lead to the first major innovation of flat bread pizza. It was a pretty common sight for the poor in Naples to add tomato to their yeast-based flat bread. The pizza that we see today is an amalgamation of centuries of economic development, technological innovation, cultural diversity and migration.
