Google Doodle marked India’s Republic Day on Wednesday with a graphic depicting the country’s famed parade. Google’s logo showed elements of the parade that included musical instruments, the Indian flag and animals like elephants and camels. 

The following elements from the January 26 parade are shown in the Google Doodle (left to right): An elephant; a horse; a dog; a camel; a red tabla; the parade path; a saxophone; doves; and India’s national flag.

India is celebrating its 73rd Republic Day on January 26th, 2022, to mark the anniversary of its constitution coming into effect. The Indian constitution was first adopted on November 26, 1949 after the approval of national legislators.

This year’s Republic Day celebrations were kicked off a day earlier than usual to mark the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, an iconic freedom fighter.

This year’s Republic Day parade, which is conducted on New Delhi’s Rajpath, will be similar to the Google Doodle and will see multiple events overlap. 

New Delhi skies will see 75 Indian Air Force aircraft, performances by 480 dancers, the launch of ‘Shaheedon Ko Shat Shat Naman’ initiative and a countrywide Vande Bharatam dance competition, according to reports from NDTV.

The day symbolises India’s independence from the 200-year-long British rule in the truest sense for this is the day the Government of India Act (1935) was replaced by the Indian Constitution, which led to the complete repeal of the foreign and anarchist era from the Indian soil.

The Beating Retreat ceremony, which is scheduled for January 28, India plans to hold a ‘Make in India’ drone show in New Delhi. As seen in the rehearsals, the show is expected to showcase 1,000 drones.
