Gudi Padwa 2021: How to make Gudi at home?
Gudi Padwa, also known as Marathi New Year, will be celebrated on April 13 this year. The festival is observed on the first day of the month of Chaitra, as per the Hindu calendar. On the occasion, one of the most important traditions is hoisting a Gudi or a symbolic flag.
What is Gudi?
Gudi or Gudhi is a flag that is made with an inverted copper vessel and a stick. It is covered in a clean piece of cloth and decorated with mango leaves, sugar crystals and flowers to mark good luck and prosperity in the home. People put the gudi or pot on their windows and balconies to ward off evil. Gudis are easily available in the markets but you can also make one at home.

At the tip of the bamboo stick, tie a cloth, preferably yellow or green. Take the mango leaves, garland and sugar crystals to tie around the cloth. Now put the inverted pot on the stick. Place the Gudi tilted on the right side of the entrance of your place.
