Former India cricketer Rahul Dravid coached the Indian squad who visited Sri Lanka for a three-match One-day International (ODI) series and a three-match T20I series. While India won the ODI series, they were beaten 1-2 in the T20I series.

He said that he enjoyed the experience but hasn’t given much of a thought to what lies ahead of him.

“I have enjoyed this experience. You know, look, I have not really thought anything far ahead,” Dravid said at the virtual post-match press conference.

When asked if he would take up a coaching job if the need arises, he said: “You know, to be honest with you I am happy doing what I am doing. For me, I haven’t given any other thought than this tour and getting through this tour.”

Prior to this, he has also successfully coached the Under-19 side and India A side. He is also the director of the National Cricket Academy.

But the Sri Lankan tour was Dravid’s first assignment as the head coach of the India senior team.

Under him, the Shikhar Dhawan-led side won the ODI series 2-1 but lost the T20 rubber 1-2, at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

The 48-year-old Dravid has played 164 Tests and 344 ODIs.

“I have enjoyed the experience and I have loved working with these guys. It’s been great. And no, I haven’t given any other thought to anything else. There are (a) lot of challenges doing a full-time role, so I really don’t know,” Dravid said.

Currently, Ravi Shastri is the India head coach. His contract runs till the end of the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be played in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from October 17 to November 14.

The India team, led by Shikhar Dhawan, left Sri Lanka and headed home on Friday. However, Krunal Pandya, who tested positive for COVID-19, remained in isolation and will be leaving later on.

As for the 3rd T20I, India lost the tie in an abysmal manner. Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga was adjudged man of the match and also the player of the series.
