Homes belonging to two of the highest-ranking US Congress
members, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell
were vandalised on Saturday, PTI reported.

The incidents, as stated by police, come amidst ongoing,
intense discussions regarding a stimulus package to aid Americans affected by
the coronavirus pandemic.

Reportedly, fake blood and a pig’s head was left outside
Democrat Pelosi’s house in California on Saturday, whereas the words ‘Where’s my money’
and a few expletives were scribbled on Republican McConnell’s house in
Kentucky.

The incidents came to light, as simultaneously in the US Senate,
stimulus cheques of $2000 were pushed for by Senate Democrats via a senate
vote. The process, however, remained unsuccessful as Republicans, under Mitch
McConnell, argued that the cheques would not amount to the kind of ‘targeted
relief’ necessary to respond to the economic distress brought forth by the pandemic.

McConnell repeatedly and vocally has been critical to the stimulus
cheque system, saying it is ‘socialism for rich people’.

“Vandalism and the politics of fear have no place in
our society. My wife and I have never been intimidated by this toxic playbook. We
just hope our neighbours in Louisville aren’t too inconvenienced by this
radical tantrum,” McConnell was quoted as saying.

‘Where’s my money’
was scrawled on the front door of his Louisville, Kentucky house with what is
reported to be white spray paint by US media, came to light on Sunday morning.

A similar incident was reported in San Francisco, California
where the San Francisco Police Department informed of vandalism having been
committed to a house belonging to Nancy Pelosi. Reportedly, graffiti had been
painted on the garage door and a pig’s head was left on the sidewalk adjacent
to the house.
