While some burglars enjoy jewels, electronics
and money, other burglars seem to have a liking for food. In a series of
bizarre events, a burglar in Assam has caused a laugh riot on the internet for his
immense love for khichdi, a popular rice dish. Recently, the thief was arrested
after he began cooking the meal in the middle of his robbery. The burglar
had apparently started cooking moments after breaking in to a vacated house.

The Assam police arrested the hungry robber and then took to Twitter to share the anecdote with internet users.

Captioning the video “The curious case of a cereal burglar”, the police department shared the incident and added, “Despite its many health benefits, turns out, cooking khichdi during a burglary attempt can be injurious to your well being”.

The video has amassed hundreds of likes and has entertained many internet users. One user wrote, “next time he will order Swiggy while at work”. Another user added, “hahaha…good one. I think since morning he was planning and in execution mode, and hence forgot to eat”. One user joked, “shouldn’t he be called a Cereal killer?”

The thief had broken into an
empty house in Hengerabari, Guwahati, Assam while the owners were away. When
the neighbours realised they could hear cooking sounds from the empty house,
they immediately reported the strange sounds to the police authorities.
The burglar was then arrested and is currently being served “hot meals” in jail
according to Assam police’s official Twitter handle.

The Guwahati police has taken the incident in light humour, although the burglar remains arrested.

A similar incident had occurred in the United States in 2017 after a thief broke into a restaurant in search of money, only to cook an elaborate meal for himself, including five steak sandwiches, fries and soda.
