Actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Kishan has said that he expected Samajwadi Party MP and veteran actor Jaya Bachchan‘s support regarding his remarks on drug consumption in Bollywood, reported ANI.

He told ANI, “I expected Jaya ji to support what I said. Not everyone in the industry consumes drugs but those who do are part of a plan to finish the world’s largest film industry. When Jaya ji and I joined, situation was not like this but now we need to protect the industry.”

His comments came after Jaya Bachchan slammed him for “tarnishing the whole industry” in the Parliament. She said, “Just because there are some people, you can’t tarnish the image of the entire industry. I am ashamed that yesterday one of our members in Lok Sabha, who is from the film industry, spoke against it. It is a shame.”

On Monday, during the Zero hour in Lok Sabha, Kishan had said that there is drug addiction in Bollywood and alleged that the drugs are being smuggled from China and Pakistan. He said, “A conspiracy is being hatched to destroy the country’s youth and our neighbouring countries are adding to it. The smuggling of drugs from Pakistan and China is being carried out every year.”

He added, “Drug addiction is in the film industry too. Several people have been apprehended. The NCB has been doing very good work. I urge the central government to take strict action against the culprits soon.”
